The bioactive component cordycepin, i.e.3-deoxyadenosine, mainly identified from the medicinal fungus Cordyceps militaris, has been demonstrated with different biological and pharmacological actrivities including the induction of apoptosis and autophagy, anti-inflammation, anti-viral and anti-tumor activities.This metabolite was first identified in 1950 while its biosynthetic pathway remains unclear until this study.
