Based on the measurements of body length and weight of nearly 3,000 under-seven aged men and women who can be fully nurtured and well-cared, Qin Zhaoting enacted a standard on the physical development of children under seven years of age. The “theoretical” growth curve for this sample is drawn by smoothing the length and weight growth curves and standard deviation curves of the boys and girls in the Qin material. From these curves, revised mean and corresponding standard deviations of the length and weight of boys and girls of all age groups in one-month age groups can be read. Use these values to make a table first. Then, the revised mean M for each age group plus or minus one or two standard deviations, S, together with the range over the two ends, can be used to classify the level of growth or weight of each age group into six levels. Use these figures to develop a “Criteria for the Assessment of the Growth and Weight of Children Under Seven Years of Age.” When assessing a child’s height or weight, first measure the child’s length or weight according to the specified requirements and then, based on the child’s exact age, find out in the standard table which child’s measurement is within that scale It is up to you to decide which level your child’s height and weight level belong to. The standard was used to assess the growth and weight development of 1672 children in 15 nurseries and, on this basis, the “level of collective development” of the length and weight of each child in the nursery was also assessed. The result shows that the height and weight of children in each unit are directly related to the nutritional quality and living conditions of the meal, so the standards and evaluation methods formulated in this way are both applicable.
