Text metaphor is a structural metaphor for cognitive construction of texts from the macro perspective. Metaphor is one of the most dynamic literary languages, a convenient cognitive tool, and a discourse boat for understanding the original work of the reader. This article probes into the cognitive metaphor “Paris = Babylon ” in the famous short story “Revisiting Babylon” by Fitzgerald, the author of the American jazz era, and points out that “Babylon ” A conceptual projection of the novel structure of the novel, the scene and the position of the person and the corresponding features projected novel scenarios and characters, the relationship projection predicts the novel plot, the projection of knowledge constitutes the causal relationship between the novel plot to build the theme of the novel. The works make use of the concept of “Babylon ” to realize the omnibearing construction of the works in the readers’ eyes, and effectively help the readers to restore the author’s intention as much as possible.
