我是在“文革”后期听说香港企业家霍英东的名字的。熟悉霍先生的朋友告诉我,霍英东是个传奇式的人物,他出身贫苦,现在已是香港巨富之一。他爱国,对祖国体育特别关心。他讲义气,对朋友一片忠诚。在国际上许多体育组织限制其会员与中国运动员比赛期间,霍先生身为香港足球总会会长,不顾国际足球联合会的限制,亲自率队回内地比赛。港英当局视这位“亲共分子”若眼中钉,处处刁难压制,这更激发了他的爱国热情。
I heard the name of Hong Kong entrepreneur Henry Fok in the latter part of the “Cultural Revolution.” Familiar with Mr. HO’s friend told me that Fok Ying Tung is a legendary figure. He was born in poverty and is now one of Hong Kong’s wealthiest people. He pays a special attention to sports in the motherland. He loyalty, friend loyalty. In the international competition, many sports organizations have restricted their membership to Chinese athletes. As the president of Hong Kong Football Association, Mr Fok led the team to return to the Mainland in spite of the restrictions of the FIFA. The British-Hong Kong authorities regarded the “pro-communist” as an obstacle in oppression, which further stimulated his patriotic enthusiasm.
