硅钛铈矿发现于碱性霓石-霓辉石脉中,矿物短柱状和细针状,共生的有金红石、烧绿石(富铀)、氟碳钵矿、磷灰石等。矿物黑色,0.4×0.3×0.2 cm,半金属光泽,条痕褐黑色,显微硬度VHN=763.5—850.6kg/mm~2,比重5.21。反射色灰色,双反射弱,非均质明显。结晶化学式为:(Ce_(1.456) Ca_(0.825) La_(0.84) Pr_(0.155) Nd_(0.393) Sm_(0.031) Eu_(0.078) Er_(0.002) Dy_(0.01) Lu_(0.043))_(3.793) Fe~(2+)_2(Ti_(2.40) Nb_(0.312))_(2.712) Si_4O_(22)。主要X射线有3.183(8,212),2,697(10,004,412),2.156(8,513),1.956(7,205)。晶胞a=13.35,b=5.72,c=11.03,β=100.48°,空间群C_2/m。
