2005年12月14日至12月18日,已停寂多年的世界杯羽毛球赛重新恢复举行,比赛地点被安排在中国湖南长沙市的卫星城市——益阳市举办,这个号称是中国“羽毛球之乡”的南方小城,幸运地争取到了连续三年举办这一赛事的权利,国际级的羽毛球世界大赛将让这个新堀起的无名小城镇蜚声国际,而世界杯羽毛球赛也在这个极度喜爱羽毛球的小城里找到了自己的福地。对于比赛的得失尚需时间加以研判,但对围绕赛事的许多方面已经可以做出综合述评,并籍此对赛事的成功举办给予诚挚的祝贺,对赛事的未来给予更大的期许。毕竟,这既是世界的赛事也是中国的赛事。
