In the study of the impact of AIDS on the family, the elderly seldom receive any attention. In fact, adult children who suffer from AIDS once and for all will have various impacts on the elderly such as economic poverty, health damage, mental stress and the loss of security for old age. AIDS has broken the intergenerational chain of support among families, reversed the direction of intergenerational support, and reconstructed each generation. Elderly parents, on the other hand, play an important role in the lives of AIDS children. They not only provide care for AIDS children, but also provide spiritual comfort and take responsibility for raising AIDS orphans. However, their potential role and contribution in the fight against AIDS have not yet been understood, valued and supported by the community. The family is decisive for people’s quality of life and opportunities for development. Increasing the investment in families for the elderly will benefit not only the older generation but also the generation they care for.
