刘勰《文心雕龙·体性》是我国文学批评史上第一篇风格专论。在文中,他将繁复的风格概括为八种类型;首次将作家的创作个性,即形成风格的主观方面的因素归纳为“才”、“气”、“学”、“习”四个方面,其中“才”、“气”属于先天资质,“学”、“习”属于后天陶染;此外还切实地提出作家应如何正确地掌握各种风格。其风格论全面论述了作品风格与作家个性的关系,为后世风格理论的发展做出了重要贡献。
