《穷人》是陀思妥耶夫斯基发表的作品中的第一部长篇小说,是他的成名之作。也有人称他为“社会小说的第一次尝试”因为《穷人》是深化了小人物的力作。当然除此之外还有其他的意义存在。作者意识地描写了社会下层人物和日常生活习俗,作品中体现了现实主义文学,客观现实的出现也是作者对现实生活的批判。在文章中作者非常强烈的描写和批判了社会的黑暗现象,并且揭露了社会中种种人们看不到的恶劣行为。也可以说作者是想通过男女主人公的贫穷来表达自己所看到的穷人悲惨生活的心声,文章反映社会现象,更可以说这种文学是社会的一面明亮的镜子。这就是这篇文章如此触动人心的地方。重要的是文章中的某些角色引起了我们的注意,女主角瓦连卡给了我们生活的启示与指引。《穷人》奠定了这位伟大作家在俄国现实主义文坛上的崇高位置。
