Preface At present, Japan’s cutting tools are still cemented carbide, high-speed steel cutting tools, especially the largest amount of carbide. However, as tungsten carbide, the main raw material for cemented carbide, has risen in price, the cost of production has been on the rise, and the supply has become a problem. In order to get out of this situation and use high-speed cutting to reduce production costs, ceramic materials have attracted people’s attention. This paper describes the manufacturing methods, performance and features of ceramic tools, and prospects for the development of such materials.
