In undertaking “second pioneering”, our city further realized that accelerating scientific and technological progress is the only way for economic development to reach a new stage. In 1993, Ruian entered the ranks of the top 100 comprehensive counties (cities) in terms of comprehensive strength in the country. In 1995, the city’s gross domestic product reached 7.78 billion yuan, with a fiscal revenue of 405 million yuan and a trade export value of 1.6 billion yuan.
