被誉为世界最杰出的女性物理学家,核物理女皇和中国居里夫人的吴健雄(1912—1997),早年毕业于中央大学,30年代赴美留学,后曾参与“曼哈顿计划”与“原子弹之父”奥本海默共事;她率先用实验证明杨振宁、李政道荣获诺贝尔物理学奖的“在弱相互作用中宇称不守恒”理论而轰动物理学界;她打破普林斯顿大学百年传统而成为首位获得荣誉博士的女性,也是美国物理学会有史以来的第一位女性会长;她获得了除诺贝尔奖以外的几乎所有大奖,是诸多诺贝尔奖得主推崇的传奇人物。最近,复旦大学出版社将出版江才健著的《物理科学的第一夫人吴健雄》一书,作者以严谨忠实的态度、广阔的历史视野和丰富翔实的描述,真实地呈现了吴健雄的生活和在物理科学上的划时代成就。本刊特选摘部分章节,以飨广大读者。
Known as the world’s most prominent female physicist, Queen’s nuclear and Chinese Marie Curie Wu Jianxiong (1912-1997), early graduated from the Central University, the United States to study in the United States in the 1930s, had participated in the “Manhattan Project” Working with Oppenheimer, the father of atomic bombs.
