Mo Yan’s “Frog” is a newly published novel that has received enthusiastic attention from the Chinese literary world. This novel has a unique style of writing. It consists of four long letters and a drama. It tells the story of a rural obstetrician’s life experience, showing the difficulties and pains of an era. Generally speaking, the novel shows its triple meaning through the core image of “frog”: the frog of nature, the totem of the totem and the baby of life. Frogs and writers in nature write both love and fear. As a frog (娲) as a totem, the writer not only wrote the worship but also wrote the real irony. As a human being’s frog (doll), the author created an aunt in one set “Born Virgin” and “Murdered Demons”. The novel gives the complex image of the three images with love and hatred and draws the call of respect for life.
