高粱新杂交种赤杂16号(繁8A×7654)1993年育成。该杂交种生育期118d,所需活动积温2900～3100℃,属中熟品种。1997～2000年区域试验生产示范,产量7149.90～9106.95kg/hm2,比对照种敖杂一号平均增产16.50%,并具有高产、抗旱、抗逆性强、适应性广等特点。
