集邮图书是集邮文献的主要组成部分之一。目前集邮界所普遍使用的集邮文献一词,源自英文“philatelic literature”。而“literature”的基本含义是指“文学作品”或“对某一专门学科、领域有深刻见解的作品”。其后者与汉语中对“文献”一词的解释是指“有历史价值或参考价值的图书资料”非常类似,因此,集邮文献就可表述为“在集邮领域中有历史价值或参考价值的图书资料”。
