This article outlines the clinical application of bromocriptine in obstetrics and gynecology. Bromocriptine is a semisynthetic ergot alkaloid bromide known by the chemical name 2-Bromo-α-ergosulfonate. In humans, absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, plasma levels peaked within 2 to 3 hours and remained in small quantities after 24 hours, mainly from the bile. It is a dopamine agonist. Its therapeutic dose produces rapid and sustained inhibition of prolactin secretion. Respectively, on the hypothalamus and pituitary prolactin cells, stimulate dopamine receptors, inhibit prolactin and thyroid stimulating hormone release. In humans, the main role of prolactin is involved in the secretion of milk. Serum prolactin levels of pregnant women increased rapidly, amniotic fluid prolactin
