在全球化的历史环境下,迫切需要在中国高等英语教育中融入批判教育。通过分析30位英语专业教师的访谈内容,本文就批判教育在本土环境的适用性问题进行了调查与思考。研究发现,他们对英语教育的“文化政治性”极不敏感,对“外语工具论”思想过度强调,对教师作为“文化工作者”的身份认同感极低。在全球化的历史新环境下,决策者、研究者、实践者需要在英语教育的政治观、语言观和文化观上解放思想,共同构建具有中国特色的高等英语批判教育。
In a globalized historical environment, there is an urgent need to incorporate critical education in China’s higher education for English. By analyzing the interviews of 30 English majors, this paper investigates and considers the applicability of critical education in the local environment. The study found that they are extremely insensitive to the “cultural politics” of English education, overemphasize the idea of “foreign language instrumentalism”, and have extremely low identities of teachers as “cultural workers”. Under the new historical background of globalization, policymakers, researchers and practitioners need to emancipate their minds in the political, linguistic and cultural views of English education and jointly establish the higher education of critical English education with Chinese characteristics.
