泰州是江苏省历史文化名城,素有“汉唐古郡、淮海名区”的美誉。周秦时称海阳,东晋设海陵郡,南唐时建泰州,寓意“国泰民安”。千百年来,风调雨顺,安定祥和,被誉为祥瑞福地、祥泰之州。在这样一个有着悠久历史的城市,交通管理部门依托公安、教育、住建、交通运输等职能部门以及全市各界力量,积极推进城市道路基础设施建设和交通环境综合整治,不断完善道路交通结构,优化调整出行方式,加强智能交通建设,为泰州市加快推进转型升级,全面建设小康社会营造了安全畅通、文明和谐的道路交通环境。
