中国是最早开发和利用辰砂的国家,历史可追溯到5000多年以前,比希腊人和罗马人起码要早千年。宋代之后,辰砂的主要产销地在湖南辰州(今沅陵),因而得名。辰砂古时候还叫巴砂、朱砂、真朱、赤丹、丹粟等名。春秋战国后,丹砂在炼丹和医药方面得以广泛应用,并开始用于炼汞和提取汞的化合物。含有辰砂的条带地开石,就是中外驰名的鸡血石。
China was the earliest country to develop and use cinnabar. Its history dates back more than 5,000 years, at least millennium earlier than Greeks and Romans. After the Song Dynasty, the main production and sales of cinnabar in Hunan Chenzhou (now Yuanling), hence the name. Cinnabar ancient times also called the sand, cinnabar, really Zhu, red, Dan millet and other names. After the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods, Dan Sand was widely used in alchemy and medicine and started to use compounds for mercury and mercury extraction. Containing cinnabar strip to open stone, is well-known Chinese and foreign bloodstone.
