In 1919, four months after the great May Fourth Movement, Du Wenchang founded Beijing Private Deaf-mute School to fill the gap in deaf education in North China. 1946 renamed private North China deaf school. In 1951, the People’s Government took over the second deaf-mute school in Beijing and renamed the second-deaf school in Beijing in 1997. It is located in the Xicheng District Houhai, is a nine-year boarding school for the deaf. In the ups and downs, Beijing’s second deaf school passed her extraordinary 80 years. In the 30 years before liberation, the school made indelible achievements in publicizing deaf education and practicing the method of deaf children’s pronunciation. In the 50 years after the liberation, especially in the 20 years of reform and opening up, the school
