法国素有欧洲汉学中心之称,甚至汉学,这门“对中国进行科学的研究”([法国]《保罗·戴密微汉学论文集》第433页,巴黎,1982年)的学问,一般也认为是法国人创立的。所以,系统全面地研究、考察法国汉学的开拓、渊流和现状,几可以一执西方汉学之牛耳,有举足轻重的意义。而且,探究一番中国形象在法国人眼中的演变,也饶有趣味。可以说法国汉学是一面镜子,其对中国形象的变形、谬误、扭曲之处使之成为一面哈哈镜,但只要洞晓其曲光、成像原理,也未尝不是一面真实的镜子,既可透视法国汉学家的研究心态,又
