王肇民,安徽萧县人,1908年生,今年(1998)是他的90寿辰。王肇民早年喜好绘画,在家乡读中小学时有幸受业于几位很有些造诣的美术老师,使他在少年时代就打下了良好的基础。22岁时考入国立西湖艺术学院,也就是后来的国立杭州艺术专科学校,受业于李苦禅、蔡威民、方干民诸位先生,并与李可染为同学。那一年,王肇民参加了美术青年的左翼组织“一八艺社”,担任研究干事。由于这个原因,第二年就被学校当局开除了学籍。校长林风眠见王肇民是个人才,逐专程疏通,使他能够转入国立北平大学艺术学院,就读
Wang Zhaomin, Xiaoxian Anhui, born in 1908, this year (1998) is his 90th birthday. Wang Zhaomin liked painting at his early years, and was fortunate enough to be employed by several art teachers who achieved some accomplishments in his primary and secondary school so that he laid a good foundation in his youth. At the age of 22 admitted to the National West Lake Art Institute, which is later the National Hangzhou Arts College, who is led by Li Kuchan, Cai Weimin, Fang Qianmin gentlemen, and Li Keran as classmates. That year, Wang Zhaomin participated in the “Youth Arts Group” of the Youth Art Studio, serving as research officer.
