《丁郎寻父》是二人转第一个男单出头,也是二人转传统剧目惟一的一个由丑角演唱的单出头。单出头《丁郎寻父》的故事源头是神话小说《升仙传》。故事讲述明代书生杜景隆娶妻于月英。婚后不久,杜景隆进京赶考离家。妻于月英为丈夫能取得功名,便上庙烧香还愿。路过严嵩之子严祺府门遭调戏,严府买通官府,将杜景隆捉拿入狱,发配湖广。于月英为保全节,自己毁容刺瞎一目。杜景隆在襄阳被胡尚书收留,改名高仲举,又娶妻胡凤英,生一子,名叫赶郎。①杜景隆与妻分别后不久,于月英生一子,名叫丁郎,此名系杜景隆行前所起。十二
