The auto industry is a hot topic after China joins the WTO. WTO accession means that in the transition period of just a few years, China will reduce the tariff on sedan cars from the current 80% to 100% to 25% and the tariff on imported auto parts to an average of 10%, and gradually eliminate the cars by 2005 Import quotas. The industry believes that, as participating in the “World Cup”, China’s accession to the WTO after the full swing with well-known foreign manufacturers, there is no retreat, only in the “dance with the wolf” to catch up. Recently, I was informed in an interview that some of the automobile manufacturers in Pudong to cope with the latest developments in the WTO may help to interpret the WTO auto industry’s complex.
