As mankind is about to enter the 21st century, with a global overview of information technology by leaps and bounds, advanced manufacturing technologies and new modes of production are emerging in an endless stream. The limited resources, the aging society and the pressure of environmental protection will certainly usher in a new one for manufacturing industry Round of fiercer market competition. Traditional, closed, small and full of enterprises have become increasingly lost competitiveness. “Dispersed Networked Production System” is a collaboration between Professor Li Rongbin of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Professor Zhang Shu of Tongji University to study how Hong Kong and mainland China can make full use of their product design capabilities and manufacturing resources to enhance the international competitiveness of Chinese people. Manufacturing challenges presented by a new mode of production. In the newly opened “Forum on Production Patterns” column, the magazine first published six articles by Professor Li Rongbin and Professor Zhang Shu, introducing the relevant knowledge of “decentralized networked production system” to readers and also eagerly looking forward to one The decentralized networked production system that is suitable for China’s national conditions and can rapidly improve the overall competitiveness of China’s small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises can be set up as soon as possible to meet the challenges of the new century.
