As an important theory in pragmatics, the principle of cooperation has its important role and significance. In the process of people’s communication, only the interlocutor’s communication with this principle will make the communication successful. From a certain point of view, translation is also a kind of communication. Whether this kind of communication can succeed or not depends to a large extent on whether the translation can completely convey the effect of the original text. This article will analyze the interpretation and translation of drama dialogues in light of the principle of cooperation. We will select dialogues from Arthur Miller’s The Death of the Salesman and Ying Ruocheng’s translations for analysis.
