Blood warfare over the years has been a major issue for military blood bank researchers for many reasons, including the changing theater of war, the problems of transporting blood across vast areas, and the ever-changing climate of war zones. During the Second World War and the Korean War, the U.S. military used a variety of blood donation boxes, such as military food containers (large, warm containers), plywood boxes, Holling laminated boxes, and Bailey fibreboard boxes.
