As a major water user, petrochemical industry has been identified as a key water-saving industry. Currently, 1 ton of crude oil is processed internationally, with an advanced level of 0.5 cubic meters. At present, China’s average level is 2.4 cubic meters. In the world, one ton of ethylene water is produced, with an advanced level of 1.58 cubic meters and a domestic average of 18.6 cubic meters. From this we can see our gap and our potential to save water. The state has clearly put forward the water-saving tasks and targets for the petroleum and petrochemical industry during the “Tenth Five-Year Plan” period.
