The detection of the anterior segment of the first open reading frame (ORFⅠ) gene of Borna disease virus (BDV) in humans has not been reported yet. Through the preliminary experiments have confirmed the presence of BDV infection in human specimens and virus samples from infected animals were tested to understand the infection of human and animal virus fragment is there any difference. Methods BDVORFⅠ (p40) was detected by nested RT-PCR in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 12 BDV-infected and healthy blood donors and 100 pg / μl BDV-MDCK standard strains. Gene front fragment. Results The results of 12 human specimens were all negative, while the virus standard was positive. Conclusions The results of this study suggest that there may be a large variation or a deletion of the anterior segment of the front part of the ORF I gene fragment in BDV infected with human beings compared with BDV derived from animals. This phenomenon deserves further study.
