Objective: To investigate the effect of different doses of radiation on brain CT scan quality. Methods: Eight normal male volunteers underwent axial plain scan with four groups of 110 ~ 14 0kV and 180 ~ 36 0mAs. The images were graded according to the uniformity of the granules, the details of gray matter and white matter, the clarity of the interface and the presence or absence of radiation hardening quality. Results: A total of 192 scans were performed. The image quality of 120 kV and 240 mAs above groups were all excellent. The film yield of the group above 130 kV and 300 mAs was higher. CONCLUSIONS: Brain CT scanning with appropriate radiation doses (> 12 0 kV, 240 mAs) can improve density resolution, increase SNR, and improve image quality
