一、概况沙河上游地段属平顶山市所辖,干流源头至出平顶山市境长163公里,流域面积3368平方公里。上游地区水资源总量为10.62亿立方米,其中地表水9.27亿立方米,地下水3.85亿立方米,复计量2.5亿立方米。由于特殊的地质构造,无论地表水及地下水,均水质良好,矿化度低,宜于人畜饮用和工业利用。在上游地区,除干流以外,流域面积大于100平方公里以上的中型河道有8条;大、中、小型水库39座,总库容14.11亿立方米,兴利库容5.76亿立方米,沙颍河流域的重要防洪控制工程昭平台和白龟山两座大型水库均在本区。
