工科院校的大学生文化素质偏低已成为一个十分突出和迫切需要解决的问题。作者认为必须加强文化素质教育。文化素质教育的实质及主要功能是教化人、培育人和塑造人。文化的深层核心是价值观念,价值观念对人的行为具有导向、激励、权衡、调节和凝聚等功能。学校要致力于培养高素质的人才,不仅要懂专业,会做事,而且要会思考、会做人,时代需要全面发展的人才。在加强文化素质教育中,要处理好知识体系和价值体系,现代文化和古代文化,人文素养和科学素养,人文知识和人文精神等八大关系
The undergraduate cultural quality in engineering colleges has become a very prominent and urgent problem to be solved. The author believes that we must strengthen cultural quality education. The essence and main function of cultural quality education is to educate, nurture and mold people. The core of culture is the value concept. The values have the functions of orientation, motivation, balance, regulation and cohesion to human behavior. The school should devote itself to cultivating high-quality talents. It not only needs to know professionally and will do things, but also should think and behave, and people in times need talent for all-round development. In strengthening education on cultural quality, we should properly handle the eight major relations of knowledge system and value system, modern culture and ancient culture, humanity accomplishment and scientific accomplishment, humanistic knowledge and humanistic spirit
