Road traffic injuries are the eighth leading cause of death in the world and are the leading cause of death among people aged 15-29. More than 1 million people die from road traffic injuries globally each year, and billions of dollars are spent on these road accidents. The current trend shows that without action, road traffic injuries will rise to the fifth leading cause of death in 2030. At present, some strategies have been proven to reduce the occurrence of road traffic injuries. Some countries have successfully used these strategies to reduce the number of road traffic injuries killed. In 2004, the World Health Organization and the World Bank jointly released the Global Report on Road Traffic Injury Prevention.
