当战国末思想家荀况提出“人定胜天”的思想时,处于低下劳动生产力和科学技术的人类与天奋斗的理念和实践是无可厚非的,也是适时而发的。然而,正如《易经》所说:“一阴一阳谓之道。”人们在改造自然的同时,也在了解自然、利用自然和顺应自然。风水文化的一个核心内容就是不去毁坏自然生态,而是选择适应自然生态。避开穷山恶水,求得山川佳地。因此,风水文化的基本观点从一开始即是唯物的,也是辩证的。我们将其发展变化的历史内容概括为四句话:
