Several investigators have used eye electrogram (ENG) to demonstrate the presence of vestibular abnormalities in patients with Bell’s facial paralysis. Philipzoon (1962) and Jonkees et al. (1964) pioneered the hypothesis that spontaneous nystagmus and temperature regressions in patients with Bell’s facial palsy are associated with vascular disorders of the facial segments of the facial nerve, thus disrupting segmental blood vessels that interfere with the level of semicircular canal blood supply. However, abnormal vestibular function and facial nerve function has nothing to do. Adour et al. (1973) found contralateral vestibular response (RVR) in patients with facial paralysis and objected to the above mentioned suggestion of local blood supply disorders. Many subsequent reports found that the decline of the vestibular response was found in the disease
