据史料记载,雷氏六神丸是从王洪绪梅花点舌丹去掉其中的植物药沉香、没药等衍化而来,其药物组成有牛黄,麝香、珍珠、冰片、雄黄、蟾酥。方中牛黄,麝香为主药,清热解毒,消肿散结,疗热毒郁结,咽喉肿痛,腐烂及痛疮疔毒;辅以咽喉要药冰片,加强清热化腐之功,配蟾酥加强解毒消肿之力,且有良好的止痛效果;佐以珍殊生肌,雄黄解
