1991年3月18日,北京奥申委宣告成立,在北京举行了第一次新闻发布会。此后,中国奥申委便在党中央国务院的领导下,开始了艰苦的申办2000年奥运会的工作。但在1993年9月23日的蒙特卡洛国际奥委会第101次会议上,中国以两票之差落选。1998年11月,国务院总理办公会议和中央政治局常委会先后对申办工作进行了研究,决定由北京申办2008年奥运会。1998年11月25日,北京市人民政府向中国奥委会递交申请举办2008年奥运会的申请书。1999年4月7日,经中国奥委会批准,北京市正式向国际奥委会递交申请书。萨马兰奇主席在国际奥委会代表该组织正式接受北京的申请。1999年9月6日,经党中央、国务院批准,由国家体育总局、北京市人民政府和国务院相关部门组成北京2008年奥运会申办委员会,申办大幕正式拉开。2000年2月1日,北京2008年奥申委举行第二次全体委员会,通过表决确定了奥申会徽和奥申口号,奥申网站正式开通。会徽为陈绍华、韩美林和靳埭强三位艺术家共同创作的标志图案;奥申口号为:新北京、新奥运(英文为New Beijing,Great Olympics) 2000年8月28日19时39分,中国北京成2008年第29届奥运会的候选城市之一。一同进入候选城市的还有:土耳其伊斯坦布尔、日本大阪、法国巴黎、加拿大多伦多。2001年1月17日,北京2008年奥运会申办委员会秘书长王伟一行5人,在洛桑向国际奥委会递交了北京2008年奥运会《申办报告》。2001年7月1 3日是中国人应该永远记住的日子,这一天,在莫斯科举行的国际奥委会第112次全会上,萨马兰奇宣布北京申奥成功,北京获得2008年奥运会主办权,令华夏儿女欢欣鼓舞。
On March 18, 1991, the Beijing Olympic Committee was announced and the first press conference was held in Beijing. Since then, the Chinese Olympic Committee has started the hard work of bidding for the 2000 Olympic Games under the leadership of the Party Central Committee and State Council. However, at the 101st meeting of the International Olympic Committee in Monte-Carlo on September 23, 1993, China dispatched by two votes. On November 25, 1998, Beijing Municipal People's Government submitted an application to the Chinese Olympic Committee for hosting the 2008 Olympic Games. April 7, 1999, approved by the Chinese Olympic Committee, Beijing officially submitted an application to the International Olympic Committee. Samaranch chairman formally accepted Beijing's application on behalf of the organization at the International Olympic Committee. On September 6, 1999, approved by the Party Central Committee and the State Council, the bidding committee of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games was formed by the General Administration of Sport of China, the Beijing Municipal People's Government and the relevant departments of the State Council, and the curtain was officially opened. February 1, 2000, Beijing 2008 Olympic Committee held its second plenary session, determined by the Olympic bid Osseotype emblem and the slogan, the official opening of the Olympic site. The emblem is a logo created by three artists Chen Shaohua, Han Meilin and Jin Jieqiang. The slogan is: New Beijing, New Olympics (Great Olympics in English) At 19:39 on August 28, 2000, China Beijing became one of the candidate cities for the 29th Olympic Games in 2008. Also joined the candidate cities are: Istanbul, Turkey, Japan, Osaka, Paris, France, Toronto, Canada. On January 17, 2001, Wang Wei, secretary-general of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee, and his entourage delivered the Bid for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne. On July 13, 2001, the Chinese people should always remember the day when Samaranch announced the successful bid for the Olympic Games in Beijing, the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing at the 112th plenary session of the International Olympic Committee held in Moscow, Let Chinese children rejoice.
