《科学大众》杂志创刊于1937年.著名科学家、原中国科学院院长郭沫若特地为《科学大众》杂志题写刊名.一大批在国外有影响的知名科学家如:竺可桢、严济慈、李四光、茅以升、钱学森、高士其、华罗庚、朱光亚、周光召等都曾为《科学大众》撰文、题词.《科学大众》每期都送毛主席、周总理阅读.毛主席在一次对机关干部讲话时曾赞扬《科学大众》说“这本杂志知识丰富,我读了觉得很有益处.”他还建议大家读一读,从中学点自然科学知识.周总理也曾推荐这本杂志.《人民日报》还为《科学大众》杂志作过专题介绍.
Science Volkswagen magazine was first published in 1937. The famous scientist Guo Moruo, former dean of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, wrote a special title for “Science Volkswagen.” A large number of famous scientists influential abroad such as Zhu Kezhen, Yan Jici, Li Siguang, Mao Yisheng Chairman Mao Zedong, Gao Qitai, Hua Luogeng, Zhu Guangya and Zhou Guangzhao all wrote articles and inscriptions for the “science populace.” Each issue of Chairman Mao and Premier Zhou read during the speech of Chairman Mao Zedong, The science populace “said” This magazine is rich in knowledge and I have read it very helpful. “He also suggested that you read it and learn the natural sciences from it.
