周口店遗址位于北京西南房山区周口店镇龙骨山上,地处太行山脉和华北平原的过渡地带,地形大致向东南倾斜,遗址区坐落在山前侵蚀低丘上。西北面是峰峦叠嶂、复杂的高山地形,东南方为一望无际的华北大平原。自从1929年发现第一个完整的北京猿人头盖骨化石开始,周口店遗址就成为闻名中外的古人类遗址,成为“北京人”的故乡,这里点缀着一处处“北京人”的家园。
Zhoukoudian site is located in Longkou Mountain, Zhoukoudian Town, Fangshan District, Beijing. It is located in the transitional zone between the Taihang Mountains and the North China Plain. The terrain is generally slanted to the southeast. The site is located on the eroded hilly hills. Northwest is the mountainous peaks, complex mountain topography, the southeast is the endless Great North China Plain. Since the discovery of the first complete Pekingese skull fossil in Beijing in 1929, the Zhoukoudian site became an ancient human site famous both at home and abroad. It became the hometown of Pekingese, dotted with Peking Man’s homeland.
