The special rotary table machine shown in Figure 1 is supplied by Unistond, Italy, for boring the motor housing. These types of workpieces, such as motor housings, often have the shape of a less rigid tubular shell and are particularly difficult to machine because of the positioning and clamping problems of the work piece. Allegedly, this combination machine has been extensively tested and debugged to improve, showing the characteristics of these problems have been solved. The machine is used to machine special sizes of motor housings made of G75 or GS40 cast iron with stator bore diameters from 260 mm to 355 mm. Boring with intermittent cutting sub-rough boring and finishing, the final tolerance is 0.05 mm. The cycle time is the smallest size of the workpiece about three minutes, the largest size of the workpiece about ten minutes. Three identical jigs are mounted on a 1500 mm diameter table that feeds the workpieces one at a time from the front loading and unloading station to two boring stations.
