什么样的人会使用Internet?他们把Internet用于什么目的?他们又是如何进入Internet?这是大家都非常关心的问题。在近20家公司的资助下,美国的FIND/SVP在去年11月至12月就作了这样一次调查。调查的规模可真够巨大:他们从全美9000万家庭电话号码中随机抽取了数万个,并逐个打电话联系,结果,共联系到27327户家庭,其中,1744户家庭表示他们正在使用Internet(“正在使用”的定义为除了使用Internet电子邮件外还另行使用任何一种Internet资源,如WWW等等)。在这1744户Inter-net用户当中,又有1017户完成了含有155个问题的详细调查问卷。通过对这千余份调查问卷的统计分析,FIND/SVP得到如下的结果:
What kind of people will use the Internet? What purpose do they use the Internet and how do they get into the Internet? This is a problem everyone cares about. With the funding of nearly 20 companies, the United States FIND / SVP conducted such a survey from November to December last year.
