渤海五号自升式钻井船是1982年设计的,1985年荣获国家科技进步二等奖。该船是首次得到国际船级社认可,并获得DnV和ZC双重船级的钻井船。该船于1983年投产后随即出租给日中石油开发株式会社,用于渤海石油合作开发区钻探作业,先后打了多口探井,在对内、对外承包中均取得较大的经济效益。实践证明,渤海五号自升式钻井船在作业海况、风暴自存条件、钻井能力、可变负荷及设备配置水平等主要性能方面都达到了当时国际上同类钻井 Bohai No.5 jack-up rig was designed in 1982, and won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress in 1985. This vessel is the first rig to be recognized by the International Classification Society and has been awarded DnV and ZC double classification. The vessel was rented to NIPPOC after it was put into operation in 1983 and was used for drilling operations in Bohai Petroleum Cooperation Development Zone. It has successively hit multiple exploration wells and achieved substantial economic benefits both in domestic and foreign contracting. It has been proved that Bohai No.5 jack-up drilling vessel has reached the international standard of similar drilling at the time in terms of operational sea conditions, storms storage conditions, drilling capacity, variable load and equipment configuration levels, etc.
