钱澄海1955～1965年在国家队担任核心后卫,并担任队长长达10年;1972～1988年,他又担任了中国男篮的主教练(期间马清盛和刘贵乙短暂地担任过中国男篮的主教练),带领球队屡获亚洲冠军,并于1986年带队获得了世界男篮锦标赛的第九名,创造了中国篮球的历史。在他执教期间,钱澄海培养了张卫平、黄频捷、宫鲁鸣、王非、孙凤武等一大批优秀球员,这些球员退役后又开始担任各级别球队的主教
Qian Chenghai 1955 ~ 1965 as the core guard in the national team, and served as captain for 10 years; from 1972 to 1988, he also served as the coach of the Chinese men’s basketball team (during Ma Qing and Liu Guiyi briefly served as the Chinese men’s basketball team Coach), led the team won the Asian championships repeatedly, and in 1986 led the team won the ninth in the World Basketball Championships, creating the history of Chinese basketball. During his coaching, Qian Chenghai cultivated a large number of outstanding players such as Zhang Weiping, Huang Jiejie, Gong Luming, Wang Fei and Sun Fengwu, who retired as bishops at all levels
