There is much controversy over how to handle a single thyroid nodule for a long time. In the authors’ opinion, consideration should be given to the patient’s age, gender, radiographic history of the head and neck, thyroid function during thyroid glandography, and nodular nature (solid or cystic) during sonographic scanning. Based on these findings , The doctor decides whether surgery or thyroxine treatment is needed. Patients with a single thyroid nodule (both adults and children) who have a history of head and neck radiation should be surgically treated immediately and must be identified as a single thyroid nodule rather than a single compensatory hypertrophy prior to surgery. If there is no indication for immediate surgery, a thyroid scan should be performed
