在注水开发油田的过程中,由于油藏的非均质性,油水粘度的差别和注采井组内部的不平衡,势必造成注入水在水平面上向油井方向的舌进和在纵向上向高渗透层的突进现象。特别是在开发后期,由于注入水的长期冲刷,油藏孔隙结构和物理参数将发生变化,使油层的不均质性加剧,大大降低水驱油效率。同时,油井出水也会造成地层能量的消耗,降低抽油井泵效,加剧管线、设备的腐蚀和结垢,增加脱水站的负荷,若不回注,则将增加对环境的污染。
