北京是我们伟大祖国的首都,是具有光荣革命传统的英雄城市。从1919年五四运动到现在,北京的许多烈士,为了中国人民的解放,为了社会主义建设,献出了他们宝贵的生命。他们有的是在战火硝烟中洒血疆场;有的是在敌人的刑场上英勇就义;
Beijing is the capital of our great motherland and a heroic city with a glorious revolutionary tradition. From the May Fourth Movement of 1919 to the present, many martyrs in Beijing have sacrificed their precious lives for the liberation of the Chinese people and for the socialist construction. Some of them are sprinkling blood in the smoke of war; some are brave and just in the enemy’s execution ground;
