河南医学院细菌学系葛福鸿同志1950年改良了克氏(Kligler)培养基,能观察双醣之发酵(葡萄糖、乳糖之产酸、产气),硫化二氢之产生,在最底部能看细菌是否运动以及尿素之分解。此培养基对人体肠道病原菌的监别,增加不少便利,1952年6月又经葛氏之努力钻研,将该培养基制成粉剂,经过该学系一年来之试用,证明可节省很多时
