By international standards, China has made remarkable achievements in the past decade. Moreover, with its vast territory, abundant resources and a well-qualified and disciplined labor force, China undoubtedly has tremendous potential for more rapid economic growth . However, despite all these advantages, China’s actual role in the Asia-Pacific economy is negligible. It has not played any economic role in helping itself to become the dominant force in East Asia’s economy. Of course, there are some obvious reasons why China has such a limited degree of international connection. For example, China has to focus its attention on internal affairs to deal with numerous political and economic issues.
