史泰(C·V·Starr),1892年10月15日出生于美国加利福尼亚州一个沿海小镇福特·布莱格。1916年,史泰孑然一身来到了上海滩。谁能想到,若干年后,这位来时只挟着一只旧皮包的二十四岁穷青年竟会在上海开办起一个又一个保险公司,在中国,亚洲乃至世界各地拓展保险业务,成为赫赫有名的“远东保险工“。 史泰年青时就读于加州大学,未及毕业即开始工作,做过新闻记者、律师事务职员、保险公司经纪人等。这些工作经历,使他头脑灵活,反应敏捷,同时也积累了一定的社会经验。在史泰后来的发迹史上,美丰银行老板雷文(E·J·BaVen)是一个重要的人物。凭着在美国做保险公司经纪人的经历和个人能力,史泰受到了雷文的青睐,很快被派在美丰银行负责管理代理美国普益保险公司的业务。 CV Starr was born on October 15, 1892, in a coastal town of Fort Bragg, California.
