图画故事是以图画为主、文字为辅的一种儿童读物。这种读物是给识字不多的小学中、低年级儿童看的。因为幼儿园儿童不进行识字教育,所以也有一种没有文字只有图画的图画故事,专给幼儿园儿童看。但在书后附有内容说明,可由教养员进行讲解。少年儿童出版社和儿童读物出版社一起出版了约十多套图画故事。开本有大小,版式、色彩和内容也有不同。这些书都是一本一本在出版的,但均能成套。其中有三套,质量较好,可以特别提出来向小读者和学校推荐。
